Terra de Lobos Castelao & Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Cab for the blackberries and Castelao for the raspberries. Seems to have some red spice, but not overly heated for a $10 bottle. Pairs well with Mexican food and cinnamon-rubbed steaks.

Estacao Douro 2005

Black strawberries… or as some call them, “plums,” are smashed over ebony woods and a smooth, medium body. Hints of Bordeaux throughout. Possibly the cheapest way to for a wine snob to get off if he or she can get their minds out of the French gutter for even just a few sips.

EA Alentejano 2007

100% Touriga Nacional (Portugal’s general grape-of-choice). This wine is light and flavorful. It is very distinctly associated in my mind with smashed, black raspberries. A short finish, but before it disappears, it tastes wonderful. Pair with light sandwiches, egg dishes, or boring company.
